How We Help-- The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation--We have raised over $1000 per year for several years and walked in the annual walk-a-thon at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The American Diabetes Association--We have held a wine "tasting" and auction party each year for the past five years. This past year we raised over $2000 thanks to members and guests and we sent one bidder home with our perpetual bottle of Thunderbird, knowing we will see again this coming year. The American Cancer Society--We have had members walk in the annual walk-a-thons raising several hundred dollars. The Surfrider Foundation--Our club is a member of this foundation and our members have walked the beaches in Ventura County on California Coastal Clean-up Day in September helping to keep the beaches clean. Seniors and Families in Need--Perhaps our largest project is the fulfilling of Christmas wishes for indigent seniors and families. In 2007 we bought gifts for 24 seniors and four families of up to 8 children in Fillmore, Newbury Park, Camarillo and Oxnard. We have also donated gift baskets to the regional gathering of Parrot Head clubs known as "Phins To The West". The funds raised from the sale of raffle tickets for these prizes have helped the Laughlin, NV area Boys and Girls Clubs and other charities. Caring.com--Alzheimer's Association.
